Business Office/Human Resources Manager
Patti Jorgenson is our Business Office/Human Resources Manager with over 15 years of experience in the Healthcare field. She holds an Associates Degree in Business from Northeast Iowa Community College. Patti’s experience has been in both clinical and non-clinical roles as she maintains her CNA. She has held positions in physician offices, insurance companies, and hospitals; all of which provide a wealth of knowledge in the day-to-day healthcare operations. Patti’s team approach and welcoming demeanor creates a positive atmosphere within the facility.
Outside of work; Patti enjoys spending time with her husband and two children watching them play their travel sports. When she has downtime, she enjoys a good murder mystery book or simply relaxing!
Director of Nursing
Courtney Begeske is our Director of Nursing that brings a plethora of knowledge to Maquoketa Care Center. She earned her Associates Degree in Nursing at Northeast Iowa Community College, working her way from CNA to LPN to RN. Courtney's nursing experience includes 1 year of inpatient rehabilitation helping individuals that had experienced deficits from strokes, spinal cord injuries and traumatic brain injuries; 5 years working in an outpatient wound clinic earning her Wound Care Certification in April 2022; and 3 years working in long-term care facilities. Ultimately, the various residents she has worked with over the years won over her heart, bringing her back to long-term care.
Outside of the facility, you will find Courtney watching the newest true crime documentary, sporting event her oldest son is playing in or a music event her youngest son is performing in.
Activities Director
Cathy Clark is our Activities Director and has been with Maquoketa Care Center for 12 ½ years. Cathy has many years of experience in customer service and sales and enjoys the time she spends bringing meaningful activities to our residents and giving them something to look forward to each day. Cathy is responsible for the monthly activity calendars providing entertainment, games, events, socials, and offers 1:1 person-centered activities for each of our residents. Cathy creates the monthly newsletter, writes the weekly article in the local newspaper, and provides support for the other departments when needed.
In her spare time, Cathy enjoys spending time with her family. Cathy loves watching her grandchildren play different sports and enjoys traveling with them each year to Minnesota for a fishing trip. Cathy likes to play Bingo in Tama on occasion for fun. Cathy likes to play gold, go boating with her husband, and spend time outdoors in the summer.
Dietary Manager
Melinda Usher is a Certified Dietary Manager and Certified Food Protection Professional who has been a vital part of Maquoketa Care Center for over 21 years. In her role as Dietary Manager, she oversees all aspects of the dietary department, working closely with the facility’s dietitian to ensure residents receive nutritious, well-balanced meals tailored to their individual needs. Her dedication, expertise, and passion for quality care help maintain the highest standards of dietary service and food safety.
Outside of work, Melinda enjoys a quiet life with her beloved dogs. She loves going on side-by-side rides with them, traveling to new places, and unwinding with a good book. With two grown children, she now embraces the joy of an empty nest and the freedom it brings.
